Advent Calendar

Magic is in the air. December is here. It's the season of lights and I am so excited to see it all through Lena's eyes. She is so interested and delighted in the world around her. The wonder has already begun.

There are so many things that I love about the Holiday season. Growing up I loved getting out the Advent Calendar on December 1st. The one we had growing up was made of cloth with pockets that each held little stuffed Christmas ornaments. That calendar is hiding somewhere in an attic in Alaska, so, for this year we made our own.

First I glued a long stick to a large piece of butcher paper

Then I cut 25 strips of paper to sew into little pockets.

I glittered on all 25 numbers.

And glued the pockets into place.

25 treasures, tied with twine, placed into each pocket.

Hung up with care for Lena to find. The entire project was started and completed during nap time. This morning Lena saw the calendar and together we fished out the first treasure and talked about the numbers and the glitter. She wont remember that moment, but I hope she will always carry with her these holiday traditions.

I am so blessed to be sharing this season with my two sweet loves.
