Exploratorium

One of our favorite things to do as a family is take the ferry over to SF. From there we go exploring on the Piers. A few weeks ago we happened to pick a day that the Exploratorium was having one of their free admission days! Lena loved it. And we loved following her around. Watching how she interacts with the world makes my heart sing.

These pictures of her and the goldfish checking each other out make me giggle every time.

There is so much to see and do here. I feel like we have only checked out a small fraction of it.
All the more reason to go back again soon!

Window Ballerinas

Miss Lena Bean loves dancing and she loves painting. So over the summer we combined the two loves together to make these dreamy Window Ballerinas.

I cut out the body silhouettes and used coffee filters to make the snowflake style tutus.
(I did those two parts while Lena was sleeping so she could help with the colorful, messy, and scissors-free part when she woke up. ;)

We used diluted watercolors and pipettes (yeah, really, that's what they're called) to do the painting.

Lena absolutely loved it!! Until I told her it was time to clean up...

(I'm such an evil mom. I have about 30 pictures of her crying like this and they make me laugh so much! They were taken in a matter of seconds and she really was completely fine. And quite happy as soon as I offered a bubble bath.)

Letting the tutus dry before putting them on their ballerinas.

A little piece of tape to hold the tutus in place and voila!

 Window Ballerinas!
They have faded a little over time, but are still so pretty when the light is shining on them.
These little dancers make our windows happy and bright. :)
