It's not always easy, it's not always good. Lately things have felt a little hard. To try and escape our little dark storm cloud we took a day trip to SF. Took Lena to the Zoo for her very first time. She is into animals and their noises so much right now, we knew she would love it.
Lena's complete bliss face.
Awesome playgrounds.
This fellow was SO loud!
A scary, fast, loud train. Clearly not a winner for us.
Fun photo-opts.
See the tiny eagle? Wild, Alaskan ladies put that tiny boy to shame!
How cool is this guy?! His front feet look like animals rooting the ground. Such crazy looking things, Anteaters.
I always love the primates the best, but like the rest of the zoo, they also make me a little sad. Like this poor guy above just watching the sunset. Animals really don't belong in cages, even though I am very grateful for the chance to learn about and observe them in person. I have always had such mixed feeling about zoo. I am sure others can relate. Love and sorrow in the same breath.
Peacocks running around free everywhere. This always reminds me of my grandparents who had peacocks roaming free in their yard when we were growing up.
Break time after a huge mess (notice the outfit change) and before getting back in the car.
Carr Family selfie.
Goodbye to our favorite city, our favorite bridge. Although our rain cloud didn't leave, this was a sweet and needed escape. There is so much more to do at the zoo. We didn't even see the big cats or the penguins! But there is always next time and we promise to return soon.
***We learned last night from my Mother-in-law that baby Gorilla Kabibe was killed Friday night (the night before we went to the zoo). An accident at bedtime with a closing door. Sad and tragic for both the animals and the humans. That explains why it was so quiet around their area. The mourning is still very new there.
