Lena Adventures with Grandma Bunny

Over the holiday season, while my mom was visiting, she took Lena to San Francisco with her to visit friends and family. (And to give this Mama a break! Thank you.) Lena was lucky enough to meet Jessie the parrot, visit with her Aunts, and spent a beautiful day at the beach.

My mom, Margo, taker of all these pictures.

I am so blessed to have family around that I trust Lena with completely. I can relax and have a free day because my heart is at ease knowing she is with her Grandma. The two of them have had a special connection since the moment Lena was born. She chose to share a birthday with her grandma, and I chose for them to share a name.
They go off together and I knew they will come home tired and smiling. With pictures to show off their adventures.
Come back to us soon, Grandma.

Snoopy's Ice Rink

Today we went Ice Skating. A dream come true! I have wanted to go so badly the last couple of years. But then I got pregnant and it just never happened. These days Lena is so active I thought maybe we could make an entire family adventure out of it. So we called Snoopy's Ice Rink to see how crazy we were for trying to take a 15 month old ice skating when we have never been ourselves. Turns out there are lots of crazies like us and they even have scheduled times for Parent & Puppy practice where you can take chairs on the ice and they give a little skate lesson.
We did just that.

I think there may be nothing cuter than a babe in skates.

It was SO MUCH FUN! At first, I was terrified and cold. But the chairs helped. And then the lesson helped even more. Skyler was actually pretty good! While I kept a death grip on the chair. Lena LOVED it.
She loved doing laps around me with daddy. She loved getting to try it herself. Although she is a long way off from actually being able to do it herself, she did stand for a moment. She was so very proud of herself. A lot of clapping and huge toothy grins.
We can't wait to go back!

Saturday Morning

This morning we woke early. Not before the sun or the roosters, but early for us. For a Saturday.
It was the kind of morning where the sun is clear and bright, but the fog still lingers. Clinging to the earth and the river. Offering shows of white light and silhouetted trees.
After snuggles and a cartoon in bed we decided it was the perfect time for a drive to Jimtown. For warm breakfast and best friend visits.

Love this family moment. I asked Lena for a kiss and she gave me a quick push away. It gives my heart a tiny bitty break, but at the same time fills me with wonder seeing her make her own choices and decisions in life. Just wish she'd be a bit sweeter about it...
(and best friend photo cred!)

On our way home we had to stop and take the obligatory Sonoma County mustard field photos. Yellow flowers have always been my favorite. Any kind really. And an entire of field of happy yellow flowers, alive with the buzz of honey bees - my heart could sing!

I think Lena liked all of the happy yellow flowers too. At first she was not sure about us walking into a field that grew taller than herself, but she was ready to go as soon as she realized you pushed aside the plants to walk. We giggled, looked, awed, smelled and listened. It seemed to have its own heart beat with all the busy bees working away. It's own magical world that let us in for just a moment. Our sweet Saturday morning.
